Given as how links are status in the blogosphere, a general practice of pinging without linking such that links to one's blog appears on someone else's with no reciprocation COULD cause a filter to be applied.
Ah, this topic pops up again. TrackBacks can be legit without actual links. I've used them to ping other people's posts from an entry of mine that is relevant to their post. Now if people are actually talking about your post without linking to it that's just foul.
Posted by Michael at June 7, 2004 08:29 PMYes they can be legitimate.
Fact is, I'll talk about someone's post without linking to them in a heartbeat if I have no respect for them. I have no issues with someone doing the same. What I don't like is feeling folks want to use my shit…or me…for their purposes, and that's really not blog-specific.
This ain't the community site yet. When I get to it, I'll be remarkably tolerant. But P6 is mine.
You know what? I think I'll set up an open trackback so folks who just want to call my attention to something can do so.
Posted by P6 at June 7, 2004 10:07 PMI have no idea what you just said. Was that for me?
Duhhh...
No Sis, it wasn't for you at all.
