Jason might have put a cap on the whole Black blogger discussion. I know damn well I can't top it.
It means feeling safe to say what you want to say. It means being challenged in ways you didn't expect. It means comfort. It means having an expectation of similar cultural and historical currency. It's the silent nod that lets you know that in a sea of supposed "color blindness" and "anonymity" somebody out there knows what the fuck you're talking about and why you're talking about it.
Heh, you and George both quoted completely different parts of that.
I'm flattered. I feared I was just talking out my ass.
I wonder if people outside the sub-sphere will get the meaning of this?
I saw George's quote. I picked this one because the community thing is important to me…it's what we're collectively missing.
I think people across the board will get it. What they may not get is the intensity of it.
Everyone feels like they got shit going on that no one sees or understands. What mainstream folks won't get is that the feeling is institutionalized in the Black communities. An institutionalized escape from it would be cool.
Yeah i'm down to soundbite level. As they used to say: "Looks like this is the end, but don't miss the next Underdog Show!"
yes, right on my man. as the great stalin once said "hello"
Obviously I must surrender all hope of understanding every comment left on the site.
