Moving Ideas Network

A very good resource, The Moving Ideas Network is run by The American Prospect. This is how they describe themselves:

Welcome to the Moving Ideas Network (MIN), formerly the Electronic Policy Network!

The Moving Ideas Network is dedicated to explaining and popularizing complex policy ideas to a broader audience. Our goal is to improve collaboration and dialogue between policy and grassroots organizations, and to promote their work to journalists and legislators.

MIN posts the best ideas and resources from leading progressive research and advocacy institutions, as well as promotes high-quality websites and publishes original content. We hope to strengthen democratic participation by providing a more inclusive and intelligible debate about the issues that shape our world.

Moving Ideas also draws from the research of a network of more than 100 member organizations, and provides timely information and leading ideas about the policies and politics that drive the nation's agenda.

Sharing America's Wealth: The necessary role of government in broadening the middle class
by Robert Kuttner

America's generously egalitarian spirit coexists with a startlingly narrow concentration of wealth that has only worsened in the past two decades. This special report explores how to think about this conundrum and its politics, and what to do about it.

This page has links to the articles in the special report The American Prospect, and supporting material for each of them. Economic wonks take note!

Falling Through the Safety Net (pdf)
In this slow economy, low-income single mothers are being hit especially hard. The jobless rate for low-income single mothers averaged a whopping 12.3% last year, higher than the overall rate. Meanwhile, a House bill has created more barriers for these mothers to receive much-needed aid and avoid falling through an already eroding safety net.
