So what?
Seriously. How many Democrats will listen? How many people who listen to that type of tripe will vote Democrat under any circumstance?
“He regularly goes out there and says he’s the person who can beat John McCain,” said Mark Penn, Mrs. Clinton’s chief strategist. “But the truth is, if he is ever in a general election, a lot of positions he took in 2003 and 2004 will come back to haunt him in a big way and a lot of the vetting that didn’t happen will happen. The independent and Republican support that he has had will evaporate really quickly.”
Besides which, in its desperation the Clinton campaign is "vetting" Obama as thoroughly as possible.
Without using Mr. Obama’s name, President Bush, at a White House news conference on Thursday, assailed his willingness to meet Cuba’s new leader, Raúl Castro, without preconditions, saying that to do so would grant “great status to those who have suppressed human rights and human dignity.”
So what? You want to compare the status you'd give to Castro by meeting with him, to that given Musharraf by funding his military and supporting him with no restrictions?
Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser to Mr. McCain [said] “On the Republican side, we’ll have a very significant issue contrast against him. When you look at issues — taxes, spending, judges, health care and national security — there is a divide as deep and wide on those issues as the Grand Canyon.”
Good, good...he almost cackles in anticipation.
Taxes, spending: "This is what we'll do. We'll determine in conjunction with your local governments what we need...not want, but need...to rebuild the foundations of our economy and society. And we will tax sufficiently to pay for it."
Judges: "Judges don't do anything about the price at the pump. Right now that discussion is an unnecessary distraction from out immediate needs. Let's get the taxes and spending stuff out of the way; the lines of communication we'll lay down in that process will be useful to insure your concerns are heard when we pick up that discussion later."
Health care: "BWAAAAAHAHAHAHA! Did a Republican say "health care?" Did a Republican have the nerve to string the two words together, in that order, in one sentence? BWAAAAAHAHAHAHA! Excuse me, I think I wet myself, I'll be right back..."
National security: "Yes the world is a dangerous place, all the more so since Bush, with McCain's concurrance and support, undermined many of our major alliances. And yes, that bungling is in the past, yes we have to consider what to do next. But YOU have to consider what to do next as well. Will you put the job in the hands of those who think Iraq went well? Because if you do you will see exactly the same thing into perpetuity. What's the definition of insanity...doing the same thing and expecting different results. "
"Are you insane? Then vote McCain"
Hm. I like that last line. I think I'll make it the title of this post.

But not her.
But not if Ms. Clinton is the nominee? There will be no onslaught from Republicans and their allies? The tone and intensity will be all lambs and butterflies?
Nagourney is an idiot.
He actually SAYS he has a
He actually SAYS he she has a long record the Republicans can plunder. [P6: well, that kinda changes the meaning of that sentence...]
This article made no sense at all.
What is going on right now
What is going on right now is that the pundit class and a whole host of other folks who are opposed for one reason another to Obama's candidacy are working hard to make him fight on two fronts at one time. On the one hand, he and his campaign are still seeking to capture the Democratic nomination and try, once and for all, to drive a stake in the heart of the overrated and embittered Clinton Machine. On the other hand, folks are trying to draw him into various public arguments with the presumptive Republican nominee.
The intent here is to simply distract his campaign from its message and make it expend resources so as to weaken it for the primary fight (Billary will not concede even if she loses Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico.) and the general election. A clever move on the political establishment's part but even Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see through this bull****.
SHE'S fully vetted? HELL NO...don't let her
get away with THAT lie.
1. The records on her life as First Lady.
2. THOSE TAX RETURNS SHE REFUSES TO RELEASE.
Don't tell me that she's fully vetter. That's a DAMN LIE.
ptcruiser, is, of course, on point, once again. It IS obvious as to what they're doing to Obama.
