Rush Limbaugh on riots as a political strategy and the fear of a Black planet

That audio is something

That audio is something else. The mixture of smugness and desperation in his voice is something to behold.

Bluff and bluster

I don't think Limbaugh actually wants riots. (I do think his words are an incitement to riot, though.) But if he can use bluff and bluster to get people talking about riots at the DNC, Limbaugh wins no matter what.

If Obama is nominated and needs the votes of superdelegates to put him over the top, Limbaugh's line becomes: "They had to give it to him to prevent riots! They were (ahem) blackmailed!"

If Clinton is nominated (which can only happen by the votes of superdelgates), but riots don't occur, Limbaugh's line becomes: "They were willing to risk burning down the city of Denver to steal the nomination!"--a twofer: associating Democrats with riots and election fixing.

And, of course, if riots actually do occur, regardless of who is nominated, Limbaugh gets his dream come true--the Democratic convention and candidate is associated with riots.

He doesn't want riots,

He doesn't want riots, because he'd have to go into hiding again, like he did after the Oklahoma City bombing.
