Prometheus 6

All respect and no restraint

This is WAY worse than what he did to the chick from BET

A couple of years ago, major

A couple of years ago, major media outlets would have allowed this quackery to go unquestioned.

Matthews is problematic but

Matthews is problematic but over the past few months I have detected a slight change in his approach to covering current events that at the very least allows me to watch his show without gagging and switching the channel. I watched the exchange between Matthews and Kevin James live yesterday and then viewed a taped replay later in the evening. James was in over his head from the beginning of the interview. He should have known what was coming when Matthews asked him during the first minute why he was shouting and this occurred well before Matthews asked him if he knew what Neville Chamberlain had done to be labeled an "appeaser." James needs to start reading books.

Good Lord, that was

Good Lord, that was embarassing.

I thought it was hilarious

Absolutely BRU-TAL...but, definitely rewindable..LOL

Matthews looks like a guy who is trying to do the right thing with absolutely no guidance. He should get props when he gets it right, as he does here. Maybe a light swat on the nose when he screws up, just so he knows we see it.

P6, I agree with you about

P6, I agree with you about Matthews. I like it when journalists or people who are hosting programs that cover current events ask the kind of questions that Matthews posed to James. I don't care if the person being questioned is on the right or the left. If you think that suspending the gasoline excise tax for the summer is a bad idea, which I do think is true, then you have to be able to explain why. If you are going to say that a politician is acting like Neville Chamberlain did at Munich then you had better be prepared to explain why. If you shuffle, you have to deal.

Having a President that is

Having a President that is intelligent and was tops in his law school class might mean help to create a climate that is conducive to things of the intellect – like reading or doing research.

This was absolutely good to see. That degree of ignorance needs to be exposed. The sad part is that he had no idea of what the word meant, otherwise he would have been able to fake it.

It is too bad that the top fool, President Bush, is not being called out in a similar manner, because I doubt that, even now, the President knows what Neville Chamberlain actually did.

"because I doubt that, even

"because I doubt that, even now, the President knows what Neville Chamberlain actually did."

Yeah, Bush has two degrees from Ivy League universities and graduated from an exclusive prep school and probably does not have a clue about what Chamberlain did that was so reprehensible. If Kevin James even had a modicum of an education he might have realized that the jig was up when Matthews said that he, Matthews, was a Churchill buff. Churchill did not publicly rebuke Chamberlain for agreeing to allow the Nazis to take over half of Czechoslovakia although he had thought and argued for several years that the Brits should prepare for war. (Useful idiots like Clarence Thomas can keep arguing all they want against affirmative action but I doubt if he would have been allowed to graduate from St. John's or Yale without demonstrating some knowledge of 20th Century history.)

That's What Would Happen If My Blog Had Cameras

That was absolutely hilarious.  The sad part is that Kevin James can go BACK TO WORK tomorrow with nary a concern for his gross incompetence.

It's nice to see people get put down hard.  Television shows like this would dry up in a hurry if juornalists pushed the envelope - especially with respect to history.  The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said that history was the discipline best suited to reward our efforts (I'm paraphrasing).  So it is.

"King and chief probably had a big beef; 'Cause of that now I grit my teeth." - Chuck D.

That Was Painful!

After I saw it online from work, I couldn't bear to watch it when the repeat of Hardball came on that night. He ate that fool up and if he isn't having nightmares about looking like the dunce of the century, he should be! This is why guys like that need to stick to any of the Fox News shows or visit Glenn Beck on CNN Headline News. Chris Matthews is obnoxious sometimes but I would never call him dumb. Kevin certainly must have hit a raw nerve that day because I have never seen Chris Matthews "Bill O'Reilly" anyone quite like that!

Hardball...

“I have never seen Chris Matthews "Bill O'Reilly" anyone quite like that!”

Michelle Malkin quickly comes to mind...

(...I wish I could find the long version of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoM90bAsr1M )

Bruce Sharp had an interesting take on the confrontation as well as other questionable aspects of Malkin’s character:

"...One way to do this was to slander John Kerry's war record. In a memorable appearance on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, Malkin decided to parrot the nonsense of the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth." Adopting the artful dodge of the demagogues everywhere, Malkin wanted to maintain plausible denial: she was happy to repeat scurrilous charges, but if confronted, would claim that she never said any such thing. Matthews, however, was having none of it."

She later spent an hour on CSPAN just trying to clean up the stink from it…

what i'd be interested in

what i'd be interested in knowing is how many of those watching hardball without a horse in the race, felt that what matthews did was appropriate.

or better yet, if the person he put down was even keeled BUT SAID EXACTLY THE SAME THING, how would Matthews have responded to him?

You can answer that, no?

if the person he put down was even keeled BUT SAID EXACTLY THE SAME THING, how would Matthews have responded to him?

The BET chick got jacked and she was quite calm.

Besides...

You'd have to be extraordinarily wealthy and powerful for this race to have no impact on you. Everyone, except maybe the top 5%, has a horse in the race.

Affrimitive Action for white people
