My probably libertarian friend Darkstar has added two more sites to his Black Self Help Information site: Daddy's Promise and Future Black Men of America, Inc. I suspect a number of folks will be surprised that I direct attention thataway. If you are, you must be new here.
My thing has, indeed, been to refuse to allow folks to excuse racism through their claims of Black irresponsibility. In fact, I insist Black folks are no more irresponsible than anyone else (probably no less either, but...).
But I'm all in favor of Black folks figuring out how to get around the racism any way possible. That includes adapting to our dual-soul condition via mastery of each. I just refuse to beat up Black folks for being your standard flawed humans, is all. Not to mention that Darkstar don't forgive much of nothing...

Since this is an open thread, is it all right for me to ask if anyone saw Obama on Meet the Press and what you thought of it? I didn't see the entire show, but most of what he said was standard fare.
Up until the point when he was talking about race. I thought it was shady that Brokaw presented black America's ideas on present racism and asked if Obama agreed. Clearly that was a set-up to see if Obama was an "angry black man." But, again, are we really thinking that white people can make an accurate accessment of racism? That's just racist in itself.
Then, what was up with Obama saying that the problem isn't "present racism" but the legacy of past racism. One problem with that, of course, is that it just isn't true. And the other problem is that popular history is so sanitized, it's hardly true either!
Now, I'm pretty open about how young I am. So I gotta ask the more experienced of you - how do deal with living in bizarro world for 60+ years? I admit that at the present, I don't have much else to put my mind to, so I'm sure just life itself can act as a healthy distraction. That said, how do you live in bizarro-world without ending up in a white, padded room?
