I don't think you're joking. I just don't look forward to the prospect of it, though Gore is talking a good game lately. In my opinion, if Gore had campaigned right in 2000, he should have been able to beat Bush going away so that neither Nader nor the Florida shenanigans made any difference. If he's going to run that campaign again, I expect that he'll meet the same end.

Gore WOULD have one if all the ballots were rationally laid out.I would support a Gore/Clark ticket against Bush without hesitation. Then again, I would support a Beelzebub/Cthulu ticket against Bush without hesitation.Granted, a DLC ticket like Gore/Clark would do nothing more than give hope that we can get an ACTUAL progressive elected down the line.

Oh, yeah, Gore would have won (or we could say, did win), what I meant was that he should have been so far ahead that even the crap in Florida couldn't cut into it. I don't seem to be phrasing myself very well these days. And yes, I would definitely vote for Gore to get Bush out. But not until I have to.

You might try a little light reading. I can show you some sections of the Federalist Papers you might be interested in if that isn't complete enough for you. (The "Gore Won" line is just as vacuous as the "Recall Bush" meme.)

Oh, the Electoral College functioned as it ought to - assuming that Bush won Florida's popular vote. But did Bush really win Florida's popular vote?In my opinion, there should have been a state-wide recount. There should also have been an investigation of all the many irregularities.Trumpeting Bush's "victory" in a tarnished election is what's really vacuous. The integrity of the vote is essential to the proper functioning of democracy. When people lose trust in the integrity of the electoral process, they lose trust in the legitimacy of their government.Oh, and as for Bush, if it weren't that it would put the unspeakable Dick Cheney in power, he ought to be impeached. How you can claim to be a libertarian and support him with his massive increases in government spending and his shredding of civil liberties is a mystery to me.

1) Florida's electoral votes is a Florida issue to be decided under Florida law. As a practical matter, there wasn't any time to do a state-wide recount. As a matter of reality, several independant, private recounts have been conducted by various news agencies, and Bush has won all of them.2) We aren't a democracy. We are a constitutional republic.3) I don't support Bush. I support strict application of the Constitution. I'm not arguing for Bush -- I'm arguing for the rule of law.
