Frustration resolved

The MT client now works. Which is to say I found the one random letter that was (but should not have been) capitalized. You'll note (or not) this post has a category. Now it needs a couple of formatting commands to make it useful.

That's not all the capabilities I intend to give it, of course. I want spell checking, file uploads and insertion of custom HTML. I have a couple of other weird thoughts, like submitting a post to multiple blogs (sort of a back-up blog arrangement). But now that I have all the remote updating stuff working the rest is straightforward coding.

I am still in the process of figuring out how all this works myself. Can you make it so you can view all the entries in a particular category instead of simply seeing what category the current entry falls under? I'm sure it can be done, but I have no idea how just yet.

Do you mean in the blog view or inside the MT interface? Inside the MT interface, go to "List and Edit Entries" and then use the filters to show only the posts in a given category. If you mean on the blog, there need to be category archives set up.

What she said.Al-M is an officially recognized MT Royalty, by the way.Meanwhile within a week I may have seen the last of MT's web-based posting interface. I'm right pleased with myself.

"If you mean on the blog, there need to be category archives set up."Ugh. Unfortunately, that is precisely what I mean.Is there somewhere I can go to find out how to do this? Surely there's a website somewhere...(I did a search a while back but I could never refine it down to a few hundred thousand sites, with varying relevancy)

If you haven't changed the default templates around, you've got a category archive already.Log into MT, click the configure button on the left and then the Archiving link at the top of the page. All you have to do is tick off the check box.

And then rebuild after that.
