All respect and no restraint

The only reason I'm posting this

...is Hewlett Pacard sent a god damn pop-up to my COMPUTER in re: my HP all-in-one printer and I'm STILL pissed at them about it.

Expect a software update.

That's always been the problem with betas

There are obvious brain-farts like this HP release, which is generating fresh batches of apologists all over the cyber-place, especially in comments areas. It does give new (and undeserved?) life to the question, "Is stupidity and short-sightedness about race necessarily racist?"

I would generalize about most releases, especially betas, whether or not skin color is involved. We the people have been trained/socialized over a decade or so to accept that pretty good is just fine in the computer world due to the impossibility of perfection. (Computers work exactly as designed, but no better.) Sadly, due to the ubiquity of computers, we are accepting "well, it works, sort of, now pay us, and then pay us to fix it" in other arenas as well. By gum, you HAVE to release at some point, and then let the public tell you what's wrong, whether major or minor hiccup. In a less complex world you could tell your engineers to GTFOH with that embarrassing stuff and to get back in that !%#&?! lab and don't come out till it works.

The amount of light shone on

The amount of light shone on the subject's face should have been dealt with during the design and testing stages of the equipment.

I wonder if the Black

I wonder if the Black families that got one of these things for Christmas can get a refund.
