Convictions Intact, Nader Soldiers On
By KATHARINE Q. SEELYE

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 1 - To Ralph Nader, the Democratic convention in Boston was a hollow charade that made Senator John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, seem more like President Bush than ever. He said it gave him no reason to drop out of the race, even if he costs Mr. Kerry the election in November, as many believe he cost Al Gore in 2000.

I haven't done a lot of the "so-called partisan media" thing. But if the NY Times really was "Liberal" or even unbiased they'd never run such a headline.

Nader's convictions are NOT intact, unless it's the conviction that he simply can't fall out of the public eye.

Nader hasn't changed: everyone else has, out of fear. As far as I can tell, all of Nader's convictions are intact and solid. On which issue has he changed positions?

Both parties are subservient to corporations and I'd like to have Nader as a choice until November.

There will be three televised debates this fall, and right now only Bush and Kerry will be allowed to participate. Without Ralph Nader's inclusion, the critical issues facing our country - including the war in Iraq - will not be fully discussed.

50% of Americans have stopped voting because “slash and burn” politics has completely taken over; 35% of the electorate is independent, so national polls notwithstanding, there are alot of unhappy people. The major parties have made it clear that their primary commitment is to themselves and doing whatever it takes to win. It's clear that if there's going to be any change, ordinary citizens are going to have to take back control of our electoral process.

A new campaign www.letnaderdebate.org has formed to insist that Nader be allowed to debate. Democrats, Republicans and Independents who favor democracy over partisanship are signing an open letter to President Bush asking him to use his political clout to ensure that Nader is included. Please sign the letter today at www.letnaderdebate.org and send an email to everyone you know asking
them to do the same!

Thanks.
