GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz., Aug. 9 -- Responding to President Bush's challenge to clarify his position, Sen. John F. Kerry said Monday that he still would have voted to authorize the war in Iraq even if he had known then that U.S. and allied forces would not find weapons of mass destruction.

That's the way it goes on the political train...

Kerry didn't lose any respect from me on this because he never had it in the first place. I'll probably still vote for Kerry, but damn does he make it hard sometimes.

Agreed. Politicans have to do this. It's why Wes Clark is not running for POTUS right now. Kerry said what is required of a politican.

Not to say Kerry is bad or terrible. He is just a political animal. Great men have to concede some points in these areas, all of them have.

That is what makes Bush so obviously bad. He acts like he's never had to concede. Great leaders understand concessions with rivals and allies. Malta. The Constitutional Congress.

Many other times and instances.
