I should stay away from this slow veteran boat thing. I didn't pay much attention to it when it started up because I thought it ridiculous. Goes to show you, I guess…
Even not having gone into it too deeply before today, it's easy to see the Bushistas have come up with quite the paradox: bullshit that is thick yet transparent.
Like in tomorrow's NY Times it says:
The Swift boat group, which garnered much of its initial financing from men who have supported Mr. Bush and his father's political endeavors, has been ready to defend itself and quickly provided a statement Saturday saying Mr. Rood's article was politically motivated.
And the Slow Boat Veterans, of course, are not politically motivated at all in taking out political ads.
This is typical Flame Warrior debating tactics…an out of bounds attack, and whining when someone responds in kind. Reminds me of certain discussions I've had on racism. Watch, when it all shakes out as provable bullshit, they'll say "We'll just have to agree to disagree." My favorite evasion.
The group continues to raise money and on Friday introduced an advertisement with former prisoners of war recounting the pain Mr. Kerry's 1971 antiwar comments caused them when they were being held by the Vietcong.
Um, no. That would be the Vietcong that caused you pain. Don't get it twisted.
On the other hand, it maybe the Vietcong treated him well. At least well enough that he was able to see Kerry's testimony while they still still held him. That's a rarity. I wonder how much TV Senator McCain got?
Mr. Bush's campaign confirmed on Saturday a Kerry campaign accusation that one of the veterans in the that advertisement was a member the campaign's veterans' advisory committee.
No connection, though.
How much did you say that bridge cost?
It would really be good if the media collectively called bullshit on this one.
