I was in the U.S. Army. Joined when I was 17.

Got an honorable discharge under general conditions. After six months.

The official reason was "unfit for military duty."

My wave function included the possibility, much as the wave function of an electron in one of my fingers includes the possibility of being detected on Jupiter within the next 3 seconds.

Oh, they could have. Viet Nam had just ended. I was told if there was a war on my ass would have been overseas or in Leavenworth.

Do not underestimate the power of almost 400 years of mind-fucking momentum. When your environment is entirely controlled your choices are bend, break, snap or get free somehow.
