We're going WYSYWYG

Partly because I hit a pause in my server side stuff, partly because I miss working in Pascal and partly because I need a tool to work with whatever CMS, it's time to start work on the next version of MTClient.

I've learned a lot rooting around in the plumbing of the various CMSes I've examined. And I've decided this version will have WYSIWYG editing and I'll be paying special attention to internationalization. I swear, it's gonna be off the hook. I'm shooting for the best client out there with really useful extensions…none of which will be named right now but all of which you will be loved by your non-techie-type bloggers.

If you can whip up somethin like Shelley Power's wysiwyg comment box, you'll be ahead of the curve sho nuff.

There's a Drupal module that does that but it's buggy under Gecko-based browser. I haven't checked it's status recently though. That's actually a good reminder.

I was talking about my desktop client for Movable Type. It's pretty cool: everyone's favorite feature (and I'm part of everyone) is inline spell-checking. I haven't gotten a bug report in months (which isn't to say I don't know where some bugs are, just that they're in relatively unused functionality) from several hundered downloads.

Small secret: the next version will likely support posting to Blogger as well. Right now the best tool for that is w.bloggar.
