Testing the waters

I've decided to maintain a low-volume blog on The Niggerati Network. One, maybe two posts per day, and little to nothing directly working the news. That's actually how I worked the first incarnation of the N-Net, and it was pretty successful in its short lifetime.

Here's an example of the level I want to work on.

I'd read it.

Your past writings have offered a point of view that differs from what's found on the "big name" blogs. That makes your posts interesting, informative, and thought-provoking, and therefore, worth the click.

Given the example post you provided, I'd suggest only one thing: tell us what article or book or bolt-from-the-blue prompted you to write on the subject of the moment.

It seriously is bolt-from-the-blue stuff.

Sometimes there is an inspiration for such stuff and I'll consider sharing it. There will be those times, though, when the intent is to make folks say, "WTF??" and think about it.

Well, if it's a topic that just occurred to you for no particular reason, then tell us that too. Makes it all the more interesting, if you ask me. (And you did. Haw.)

The bolt-from-the-blue stuff is usually prompted by some event. Given the subject of your sample, maybe you were balancing your checkbook, bought a new iPod, or completed a straight barter exchange with somebody. Or maybe you just had a sudden insight on monetarization of labor--it happens.

Whatever the cause of the thought, I'm more engaged in the writing when I know its genesis.

Truthfully, I was writing something to post here and it occurred to me it would be good for folks to understand.
