Femi Kuti - Beng Beng Beng
Shit's hot.
From the 1999 album Shoki Shoki, and it's downloadable/buyable, track at a time.
We may have found another sin to indulge.

i imagine you are already familiar with the recordings of his late father, fela anikulapo kuti, who was imprisoned by the nigerian government for the subversive lyrics of his songs? femi's music is very much of the same ouvre as his father's - fela cited a strong james brown influence among others - if perhaps a bit more polished. many fellow musicians used to wear "FREE FELA" t-shirts onstage back in the 80's.
i think that wimpy democrats and frightened liberals need to be forced to listen to this music. it is most definitely not the musical expression of someone willing to back down on their beliefs. "party for your right to fight!"
